Treatment of Keloid Scar - What is the best?

Products for the treatment of a keloid scar vary in form and effectiveness.  There are gels, liquids, oils, ointments that one applies or rubs on to the scar. Additionally, there are silicone sheets for application on the scar, as well as sprays.  Each treatment of keloid scar or scars should be evaluated for ease of use, texture and, most importantly,  efficacy.

What is the best treatment of a keloid scar? It is very difficult to prove or make a claim that one product is far superior than another. One way to judge is to read product testimonials.  People who have used a product for the treatment of a keloid scar will often testify to the quality of improvement they have seen in their keloid scar in terms of flattening, softening and smoothing, relieving itch and discomfort , as well as reducing redness.

Kelo-cote® is a patented topical silicone gel for the treatment of keloid scar or abnormal scars.

It is shown to be highly effective in management and prevention of abnormal scars in the form of hypertrophic scars and keloids.  Kelo-cote® has also been successfully used to manage scars resulting from trauma, burns and surgery. Regardless of the origin of the scar, Kelo-cote® has proven results, as evidenced by clinical studies and  satisfied healthcare professionals and customers  from around the world. Kelo-cote® is the most studied topical scar product, with more than 2,000 patients participating in a variety of published clinical studies.

In several medical studies Kelo-cote® has been proven to flatten, soften, smooth and dramatically improve the discoloration noted with aggressive scars, such as keloids and hypertrophic scars.1,2

90 days is the recommended initial treatment of a keloid scar using Kelo-cote® Advanced Scar Therapy. Depending on the size of the scar, each package is designed to offer a sufficient quantity of gel for 90 days of treatment, applied twice a day.
