Silicone gel – proven efficacy in scar management and prevention1
Silicone gel is the first choice of dermatologists and plastic surgeons worldwide.1 A recent publication by the International Advisory Panel on Scar Management, a group of skin specialists, recommends the use of silicone gel, in a primary role, for the treatment of a wide variety of scars.1
The effectiveness and safety of silicone gels in the treatment and prevention of scars is established and well documented.1–6
For silicone several mechanisms of action have been proposed in scar management:
- Hydrates the scar area8,9
- Covers and protects the scar surface from external stimuli10
- Modulation effect on the cells that promote scar growth9,11
Kelo-cote®, when applied in a thin layer, will do all of the above so that the scar is minimised and the patient’s quality of life is improved.
Proven efficacy:
In a recent study12 with a treatment of a wide variety of scars, 80% of patients and 76% of physicians rated the overall efficacy of Kelo-cote® as “very good” or “good”:

Kelo-cote® is kind to the skin and is suitable for use on all types of sensitive skin, including the face, joints and flexures. In fact, Kelo-cote® is so safe it can be used on children.1,7
